Well, the Embassy was out- he was kinda, sorta banned from it. But what else was new?
Instead he chose his hedge maze at the Morningstar Estate, a delightful little spot of Alice in Wonderland of red and white roses sprouting from the organic 'walls'.
Lucifer poured the coffee to go with the array of petit fours, caramels and other single-bite sweet treats on a little white table and chairs that could please even the sweetest tooth. He checked an ornate golden pocket watch for the time.
It should just be around the appointment. He was ready for... well, nothing terrible, really. But the least he could do was be a good host.
Peter had chosen to put on his "sinner skin" as he liked to call it. He looked angelic with his wings and human shape but he was covered in shiny scales like a fish, even had a set of gills in his neck.
He and Alastor had laughed themselves to wheezing at the pun.
So dressed in his best fisherman's clothing for extra irony, Peter flew out to the Morningstar Estate, making it with five minutes to spare after navigating through the guards and security checks and everything else that went with meeting a king in his private home.
"Hello, Lucifer," Peter greeted as he approached. "Nice to see you again under less tense circumstances."
Nice of them to check, double-check and triple-check, but some days it was all terribly obnoxious.
"Evening, Peter."
The greeting was met with an amused snort, and he made a nudging motion in the air. The unoccupied chair startled, and scooted back to accommodate the guest. "Tell me about it! For a while there wasn't a day that didn't go by without threatening to make a fella molt! The guys out there weren't too grabby, were they? They can be a little... enthusiastic about their job."
Peter grinned. "Nothing too bad when they saw it was just a harmless angelfish."
He snickered at his own joke. That pun wasn't going to get old for him any time soon.
He sat down and dismissed his wings.
"But it's good to see they take your safety seriously when you're here. Especially considering there aren't guards and such at the hotel. In any case, thanks for sitting down to talk with me. And for the goodies.
He boggled briefly, then laughed. The fallen angel always appreciates a good pun. He gets the scales, now! Nice. Nice.
"There was a brief discussion about security at the hotel, but the sight of a whole bunch of suits would probably scare off potential guests. Gotta hand it to Charlie- she's got a good head on her shoulders!"
As for how he's been, let's opt for a lie: "Good, good! Been getting out for what passes for fresh air here, making plans, wrackin' the old noodle. Be good to get out of this time of year and see about it cooling down a little because hooh BOY, it gets a little too hot even for Hell! All that sunshine up top heats us like a dutch oven."
It wouldn't happen until Crymini actively attempted to pick the lock that a few veves would ignite around the lock. Then her picking tools would start to heat up and melt, anything that melted inside of the lock dribbling out as liquid metal onto the floor.
Crymini backed up. "Fuck!" She shook her hand, trying to fling the pain off her fingerbeans. Then watched the tools melt. Going to have to get more of those! Fortunately, she has a supplier.
"What the devil's piss, Charlie? Not heard of a no tresspassing sign?" Which she would have absolutely ignored, and she knew it.
She blew on her hands. The glared. "Where was this shit decades ago?" Weird-ass anti-lockpick magic. "Let's see how you handle a fucking fireaxe, bitch." Crymini started looking around.
Then stopped. Nope. Being hurt and pissed wouldn't be enough to keep her from getting kicked out if she started turning doors into kindling. "Fuuuuuck, you win this round. But only because I like the food here."
"She's worried about you. She keeps trying to help you. And you keep twisting her words or just throwing it back in her face. It's stressing her out. Fucking with her. That shit needs to stop."
"Don't be surprised. I'm her partner. She vents to me when she's frustrated to the point of tears by your stupid bullshit."
"So she's going to you to complain and you're...what? Warn me to stop doing whatever nonsense you think I'm doing or you'll throw me out?" he sneered, leaning down towards her. "A bit of a problem when she owes me favors. You wouldn't want me out of your sight to find some way to use them against her, I'll wager."
(Octavia had a very busy day in Heaven, spending a majority of it with Sera. She saw a lot of the many things Heaven had to offer, learned a few morbid truths and saw many wondrous things. She'd be lying if she said it wasn't a good kind of tiring. A lot of fulfillment, for one thing. However, there was one thing she wanted to do and this one didn't necessarily involve Sera's presence.
She wanted to speak with Saint Peter properly. They could openly talk about quite a few things without the high seraphim's presence, and do so without the pressure of an imminent Bet waiting to be resolved. It was quite late in the day, as a result, but the owl might thought she'd find Peter by the gates. She wasn't quite sure if he had breaks or worked with other people in the shift or whatever, but sought to find out! She had a latte for herself and brought along a gift for the loa: saltwater taffy. She recalled him loving the stuff back in Alastor's Palace.
Perhaps it just might catch his attention if he's not around.)
[Peter is finishing up with someone. It's one of the rare breaks in an insanely long line so he can take a little extra time going over their life.]
Hmm...
[The newly-dead woman looks like she's about to panic, fidgeting nervously and perhaps a bit guiltily.]
Your life wasn't exactly the picture of perfect morality...[Peter smiles reassuringly.]...but none of us really are. Based on what I see here? You did your best to make up for past mistakes and worked to better yourself.
[The Gate opens as a pair of feathery wings manifests on her back.]
Welcome to Heaven.
[The woman hugs Peter tightly before racing through, helping draw his attention to Octavia. He waves at her.]
Right now it's a little slow which I am not complaining about. Means nobody's dying for a few minutes.
[He takes the box with glee.]
You found Logan's! He makes the best candies in Heaven! [He pops one of the taffies in his mouth, humming happily.] You're a Godsend, Octavia. Kind of a rough day today.
Molly was lurking in the corner of the ceiling when Peter returned from what she assumed was a trip to the archives. She skittered across the ceiling to him and dropped down on a strand of her webbing. "Hey Peter! How'd it go?"
One would think after two millennia he would be used to such things, but humans -- even those who'd been angels for literal centuries -- were hardwired to react to scuttling.
So it'd come as no surprise when Peter jumped, wings fluffing up momentarily. Then he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Didn't really have much time in there today unfortunately. Bouncing between here, the Gate, and Downstairs keeps me busy."
He didn't want to say "Hell" outright just in case someone happened to overhear.
Molly giggled just a little at the fluffing and dropped to the floor.
"I know the feeling!" Molly danced a little. "Emi's having a session at the Kirkbride she's been putting of. And I've spent so much time Downstairs that I'm doing a bit of a scramble putting the finishing touches on the Heavenly Orgy tomorrow night."
"You're still invited, by the way." She can't help but tease (while being totally honest). She waves her arms out. "We're actually hitting three hundred this time. Maxing out my villa. That much angelic energy in one place is gonna be a rush. The rest of Heaven is probably gonna get an aurora just so we can channel the excess."
It's been a lot, trying to trust Charlie and be more generous with Alastor. But seeing her tear herself up over this... stubborn asshole... at some point, it just had to fucking stop.
Once the strawberry wonder himself made an appearance, Vaggie crossed her arms and cornered him.
His movements were stiff but maybe he'd get lucky and she wouldn't notice. Today was a bad day with having to reopen the wound to clean out some of the mess that had started to grow despite his best efforts.
Opening the Gate (Let's talk, Pete.)

The hotel's newest guest approached the door.
"Fuck me, the weird shark-dildo on the side of the hotel is a radio tower?"
Crymini pulled out her lockpicks, intent on seeing what was inside.

A warning.
